Year 7 Debating

I learned about debating in this term. What I have learned during the unit are Listening, variety of talking and the elements of debates. In debates there are two teams, which are proposition and opposition. The teams are going to debate about their opinion on something. In debating, there are two jobs, speaker and rebuttal. There are also skills of debating, which are style (confident, persuasive way), Speed (the speed of your talking), Tone, volume (the volume of your sound), clarity (clear), notes and eye contact.

We all did 2 debates, my first debate is about whether Apple is better than Samsung. The second one is that my team (me Aca, Alisya and Laras) is debating about the world having one currency. We are the proposition team. I did the rebuttal (my first time) and my team did a great job at the debating. I think I did great at the researching and the way I talk too but I wish that I had more time and if I practice more, I would've done better. 

The second debate is like a serious debate. My team is facing Jason's team. I did the rebuttal on this debate and I find rebuttal pretty hard. I think my team did ok in this debate, but we would've done better if we were more prepared and more organised. We really had problems because our group members sometimes was absent so they had a hard time to catch up. But they managed to catch up so thats good.

My rebuttal is not that good and organised because I was nervous and I didn't prepare myself. I think I would've done better if I learn how to present it well. I also think that I didn't use my time wisely when I rebuttal and I was talking fast. About the Pathos and Logos, I think I used them but I didn't really use it really well. 

I think Jason's team (opposition team of one world currency) did the best because they had so many good informations and all of their teammates did really well on showing and understanding the facts. My opinion about my score is 14 out of 21 because I think I did okay but if I'm more prepared, I would've done better.

My Holiday

My holiday I spent some time with my friends in Australia. I spent 2 weeks to walk around and look at stuff. Me and my friends stayed in Campbelltown. It was quite fun, we hang out and I learned how to play cricket. We also celebrated New Year together. 

The food there was normal (some of it were awesome). This one time, we had a special dinner and we had lamb steak for dinner. Everyday, we always stayed up late because we played and we hung out until its late. Sometimes if we don't have any plans, were just gonna walk to the nearest shop and drink monster energy and ate Subway. 

The New Years, it was quite fun. We went to this place i forgot whats it called what i remembered is the nice kebab they sell there. Before it was New Year we all counted from 10 to 0 and we all shouted "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" and one of my friends Jarreth, he made out with his girlfriend while looking at the time (they were trying to kiss for one minute). The fireworks were great too. After that we didn't slept at all we partied all night. It was fun but exhausting. This New Years Eve was pretty wild for me and our friends.

Yeah the next day we just kinda slept all day because we got home at 9 in the morning. We were so tired and the next day we kinda just chill at the house and ordered some pizzas. Then the next day I went to a farm to look at animals. the best part is, I get to milk a cow. it was gross, but it was a nice experience. 

On the last day, we all went to Sydney to go shopping before we went home. I bought some shirts and other stuff. The next day, we woke up at 6, took a shower and we pack our stuff and leave. we arrived at the airport at 9 or 10ish. Then we took off and landed in Bali and then we flew back to Jakarta. I had a little jet lag but it didn't last for long. 

Yeah so this is the story of my holiday.

Holes Summary Part 2

I have finished the book holes, I have read until chapter 50, so now I'm going to tell you what happens in part 2.

in part 2 from the book Holes, Zero makes an agreement with Stanley that if Stanley teaches him how to read, He will help Stanley dig his hole. Others were angry and the think that Stanley has a personal slave. When Mr Pendanski came to fill up their canteens, Stanley had a fight with ZigZag which also Zero was included and then Mr Pendanski had to break up by firing his gun into the air. 

The shot makes the Warden and Mr Sir came to the scene. When they arrived, the boys told the Warden that Zero has been digging part of Stanley's holes. Mr Pendanski then said something about Zero being stupid after that Zero hits Mr Pendanski's face with a shovel. He then runs away. 

The next day, Stanley feels bad and he's angry with himself for letting Zero dig a part of his hole He thinks about trying to make a deal with the Warden, telling her where he really found the gold tube, but he is afraid of her rattlesnake fingernails. He hoped that Zero has found God’s thumb. Zero didn't return the next day. Mr Pendanski then erases all datas and records about Zero or Hector Zeroni. 

The next day, Theres a new person in Camp Green Lake, they called him Twitch because every time he sees a very nice car, he started twitching. Twitch then helps Stanley run away by taking Mr Sir's car. Stanley manages to stole it but accidentally drives it into a hole. He leaves the truck and run away. While he ran away, all he can think of is that his canteen is empty. 

Stanley keeps walking until then he saw a boat. it has a writing "Mary Lou" in it. He then heard a noise and he shouted because he was trying to scare away whatever's inside the boat. But, its actually Zero. Stanley suggested Zero to come back to Camp Green Lake but then refuses and after that he gave Stanley a Sploosh. Zero then pointed "God's Thumb" Both of them then tried to go there and when they're there, Stanley had to carry Zero to the top of the mountain because Zero doesn't have any strength anymore. 

Once they got on the top, they ate some onions and drink water and they spent 2 days there. Zero then explains that actually he was the one that stole the shoes and then threw it away and landed on Stanley's head. Both of them then agreed to go back to Camp Green Lake to dig one more hole which is the hole where Stanley found the gold tube. They then packed some onions and water for their way back to the Camp. 

Once they got back to the camp, they started digging the hole and then they found a suitcase and Stanley hands it to Zero. The Warden is standing up there. Suddenly came a bunch of yellow spotted lizards and they crawled to Stanley and Zero's body. The Warden can't wait for Stanley and Zero to be dead. 

The Warden is confused because they hadn't died yet. The Warden then waited until tomorrow but they're still alive. Stanley's lawyer then came. Then Zero found something on the suitcase. It says "Stanley Yelnats" Zero then tells everyone that and they are surprised, especially the Warden. Zero and Stanley then got up. 

Stanley's lawyer then tells Stanley to go home, but he doesn't want to leave without Zero. The lawyer then ask for Zero's file but there are no file about Hector Zeroni because Mr Pendanski erased it. Then it says that having onion juice in your blood will prevent yellow-spotted lizard from biting you. The lizards did not live in Green Lake until the lake dried up. Sam, a guy who used to live in the town used to give bottles of onion juice to rattlesnake hunters when they went out into the desert where the lizards lived. “The lizards don’t like onion blood.”

Stanley's father then invented something. It's a spray for your feet to prevent foot door. They called it Sploosh because one of the ingredients is peaches. Then the commercial about Sploosh came and Clyde Livingston is in the commercial.

Holes Summary

This is my summary of the book holes. 

Stanley Yelnats is just a regular kid until one day he found a shoe who belonged to a baseball player, Clyde Livingston. The fact that Stanley's family is cursed, he and his family always had a bad luck. His family got a curse because of his great great grandfather, Elya Yelnats who made a deal with Madam Zeroni to carry a pig to the mountains while singing a song. He has to do it until the pig grew strong and big. He made this agreement to mary a girl called Myra. After the pig grew big, Elya is suppose to carry Madame Zeroni to the mountains. If he didnt do it, then his family will be cursed. He then forgot to do it because of the distraction of his love life. He then left to move to America and he got married with another women there. But everyday he kept thinking about the promise he make with Madame Zeroni.

Stanley was then given a choice by the judge. He was suppose to choose whether to go to jail or Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is a dried up place. There used to be a lake there. Everyday, Stanley has to dig a hole that is 5 feet deep and 5 feet long. Stanley is given two sets of clothes. He then met new friends such as Armpit, Zig Zag, Zero, X-Ray and many more. The Camp Green Lake is guarded by Mr. Sir, Mr. Pendanski and the Warden. In camp green lake, they had to be careful of Yellow Spotted Lizards. If one of them got bitten by that lizard, he would die slowly. 

Around one hundred years before Camp Green Lake, the green lake town is a beautiful town. The lake is still there and there are beautiful Peach trees grow and more. Katherine Barlow, which is called as Kate Barlow, was a school teacher. She then falls in love with an onion seller, Sam. Because of the slavery, Sam is not allowed to have a relationship with Kate Barlow because he is black and its against the rule for black people to have a relationship with white people unless the white people allowed it.

One day, Sam kissed Kate but then Trout Walker, a rich guy saw them kissed. Trout is obviously not happy with it. So then he set Miss Katherine's school on fire. Miss Katherine then ran to the sheriff to get some help but then the sheriff was also angry. Miss Katherine then ran to Sam and told him to escape but then while they are escaping, one of Trout Walker's men catch up to them and then they murdered Sam. 

Katherine Barlow then became an outlaw. Her first victim is the sheriff. She shot the sheriff in the head. After killing him, she then kissed his chick to leave a lipstick mark on sheriff's face. She was then known as Kissin Kate Barlow. She started killing a lot of people and robbing them. But then she also robbed from Stanley's great grandfather. The Green Lake then dried up since they killed Sam, causing all people to move from there. 

Stanley then made an agreement with Zero. If Stanley teaches Zero how to read, Zero would helped Stanley to dig his hole. One day Zero told Stanley that his real name is Hector Zeroni. That means that Hector Zeroni is the great great great grandson of Madame Zeroni. 

YouTubing

I'm gonna talk about Youtubing. I'm sure everyone knows YouTube so yeah. 

I love watching YouTube videos. It can make you laugh, it can also be for study and other stuff. 

Watching YouTube videos is kinda like my routine (I literally watch YouTube everyday) and probably not only me. 

You can post some videos that you think it will entertain people and then you will get subscribers. You can also comment other people's videos and other stuff. 

YouTube is also a great place to make money. If you have a lot of subscribers, YouTube will pay you. 

In YouTube, I like to watch gaming videos, one of the gaming channels that I like to watch is Chris Smoove. Chris Smoove plays NBA 2k, madden, black ops, GTA and many more. The reason why I like him is that I find him funny and good at what he's doing. He also gives some interesting information through his videos like what's going on with the world and many things. Basically I love watching comedy videos on YouTube.

Elgin Baylor's Birthday

JdIt's Elgin Baylor's 80th birthday! If you don't who he is, let me tell you. 

Elgin Baylor used to be a Minneapolis Lakers (it's now Los Angeles Lakers) and he is a 11 time all star. He was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers on 1958 first round. 

In his rookie year, he averaged 24.9 points per game and 15 rebounds per game. He won the rookie of the year award. 

 After that, he's average is rising to 34.8 and 38.3. He also set the NBA record for most points in a game he scored 71 points and grabbed 25 rebounds while playing against the Knicks ( the record is broken by Wilt Chamberlain he scored 100 also while playing the Knicks)

Because Elgin Baylor used to be a US army reservists, he was called to active duty in the 1961-1962 season. That's why he only played 48 games. But he still scored more than 1.800 points (not in one game) 

In the NBA finals, he set the NBA finals most points scored by scoring 61 points in one game and it's now still haven't been broken. 

Unfortunately, he didn't  won any championship. Baylor was selected as a Hall of Famer on 1977 and the Lakers retire his jersey number (he wore number 22).

My iTunes

I'm going to talk about my iTunes. First of all iTunes is an application for Apple designs. There's iTunes in almost every apple products such as MacBook, iMac, iPhone, iPad, iPod and more.

So iTunes is filled with some songs, movies, Radio and more. From iTunes, you can also download musics and movies. When you download stuff from iTunes, you have to pay. for music, it usually costs around $ 1.29 and for movies it cost around 20 dollars. for movies, you can also rent it for a certain amount of time (I don't know how long). 

You can also download some apps/games from the app store and put it on your device (not computer to computer) but you can't play it because its a mobile game so you can't play it on your computer. If you don't have any music in your iPhone, you can put some songs from your computer. You just have to connect your iPhone (by the way you can do this with iPad and other devices) and just sync it. 

So that is iTunes, now I'm going to talk about what's inside my iTunes. Inside my iTunes, I have so many songs and movies. I got them from my friends and some of it I downloaded from the internet (I bet everyone does that so don't get mad). I have many genres of songs. My favorite genre is Pop. I love Calvin Harris. His genre of songs is Techno. Techno is like dubstep. 

I also have some movies. Mostly is comedy movies. I love comedy movies where there is Zach Galifianakis in it. I find him funny and entertaining. I have like a lot of them and sometimes if I'm bored, I just go to my iTunes because my iTunes can entertain me.

My Weekend

In my weekend, I spent time with my family. At Saturday, I go to the salon of dogs with my dog. So there, he gets treatment. First they want to clean his fur so there will be no lice on his fur. Second they showered his body so it would be clean and it would smell nice. After that, they cut his nails so it wont be sharp or long. After that, they cleaned his private parts and yeah.

After I'm done, I go to my basketball lesson with my friend, Ihya. He's in Year 10. We practice basketball together from 2 pm until 4pm. We had fun time there. The team is called KABC. I don't know the meaning of the name because I am new there. After that I got home and rest.

At Sunday, I stayed at home and I spent my time with my brother and sister watching TV. And because its Sunday, we can order food. So me, my brother and my sister agreed to order McDonald's (I want KFC but they don't like KFC)

Friday Reading

Today at friday I read a book called "The Kite Runner" It's about this two kids named Amir and Hassan. The story is quite interesting for me because it changes subject like it doesnt keep talking about the same thing over and over again.

The name of the author is Khaled Hosseini. He release 2 the kite runner books, one is the novel and one is the graphic novel (its like a comic). He has released a lot more novels like A Thousand Splended Sun, And the Mountains Echoed and more.

I didn't finished reading the book because the time is up. I read until the part where there's this exploading part and Amir said its part of this Afghanistan Monarcy. 

Remembering Michael Duncan

On September 3rd, 2012, Michael Duncan died at 54. Michael Duncan is an American Actor that he was mostly known from his role The Green Mile, which he was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

He was known from these movies:

He suffered a heart attack on July 13, 2012 and he was taken to a Los Angeles hospital while his girlfriend tried to save his live with CPR. But he died at September 3rd, 2012 because of the heart attack.
